WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Some local high school students got a chance to show off their newly-constructed robots. The FIRST Robotics Teams from West Lafayette, Harrison, and Lafayette Jeff High Schools gathered for a demonstration of how their robots worked. They explained how they designed and constructed them over many weeks. The Purdue FIRST sponsored the students and served as their mentors through their building season. Lafayette Jeff Student Miguel Gonzalez says his team from the Jefferson Precision Guessworks spent over six weeks working on their robot.
"This whole thing has been a lot of design, a lot of hard work, a lot of prototypes and then after we finished there has been a lot of troubleshooting. So it's just a big relief to see it working," Gonzalez said.
From here, the robots will be judged at the Buckeye Regional event in Cleveland next week. And then March 19th through 21st the robots will be competing in the annual Boilermaker Regional FIRST Robotics Competition at the Armory at Purdue University.
